PET Bottle Flakes is flakes PET sourced from washed pet flakes. Flakes are washed, ground pieces made from sorted scrap. For PET, bottle flakes are the standard feed for polyester staple fibre, strapping, sheet and re-granulation.

What to check before you buy
- IV: Intrinsic viscosity (dl/g) shows the molecular weight of PET. Fibre, sheet and bottle applications each need a different IV range.
- Moisture: Moisture causes bubbles, silver streaks and weak parts. Ask for the moisture percentage and whether the material needs drying before use.
- PVC: Even a little PVC in PET degrades it during processing. Ask for PVC content in ppm.
- Colour: Agree the colour (natural, white, coloured or black) and how consistent it must be between bags and lots.
- Lot check: Ask for colour sorting (clear, light blue, green, mixed), moisture, PVC and label or glue content, metal contamination and, for PET, intrinsic viscosity (IV).
