What to check before you buy
- MFI: Melt flow index (g/10 min) tells you how easily the material flows. Match it to your process: low for pipe and blow moulding, medium for film and raffia, higher for thin-wall injection moulding.
- Moisture: Moisture causes bubbles, silver streaks and weak parts. Ask for the moisture percentage and whether the material needs drying before use.
- Contamination: Labels, paper, metal, sand and other polymers lower quality. Agree an acceptable limit and how it will be checked on arrival.
- Lot check: Ask about flake size, whether it is washed or unwashed, dust and fines, moisture, colour consistency across bags and any mixed polymers. A sample run on your own machine is the best test.
